WUCF TV Honored with Suncoast Regional EMMY® Nomination

Orlando, FL – The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored WUCF TV, Central Florida’s PBS station, with a Suncoast Regional EMMY® Award nomination.

The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is a nonprofit Florida corporation dedicated to excellence in television and offers the annual Regional EMMY® Awards to television markets in the State of Florida; Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and New Orleans, Louisiana; Mobile, Alabama; Thomasville, Georgia; and Puerto Rico.

The station received a nomination for the Interview/Discussion - Long Form Content category, for “NewsNight Special: Return to the Moon,” a captivating documentary created by the talented WUCF NewsNight team: Steve Mort, Krystel Knowles, Robert Pittman, and Brendan Byrne of WMFE.

“NewsNight Special: Return to the Moon” takes viewers on an extraordinary journey, exploring the technological advancements, challenges, and the enduring spirit of exploration that fuel the race to return humans to the Moon. Additionally, a panel looks at what goes into launching the SLS, the science behind the Artemis program, and what it all means for the future of exploration and Florida’s Space Coast.Through meticulous research, expert interviews, and breathtaking cinematography, the documentary sheds light on the groundbreaking efforts of scientists, engineers, and visionaries striving to make lunar exploration a reality once again. Additionally, “Nadiya Ukraine: The National Ballet of Ukraine”, a performance filmed in partnership with WUCF TV, was nominated for a Suncoast Regional EMMY in the Special Event Coverage category. WUCF TV is a proud presenting station of this program.
