WUCF’s Meet The Helpers Introduces New Helpers

Orlando, FL – Just in time for elections,WUCF's Meet The Helpers introduces children to two new Helpers who support democracy and make information available for everyone: American Sign Language Interpreter and a Public Service Worker. The new Helpers begin airing today on WUCF TV and are available to stream here.
“Meet The Helpers has supported young children in their understanding of current events and the world of work since 2018,” said Jennifer Cook, executive director and general manager of WUCF, “We are proud once again to deliver timely content about elections, democracy and information at such a pivotal time in our community and the nation.”
American Sign Language Interpreters relay information to ensure everyone has access to the same information. Featured talent is Lindsey Smale, NIC, ASL Interpreter, University of Central Florida.
Public Service Workerscan be hired, appointed, or elected officials who serve the public good as government employees. Two additional elections videos will cover the voting process so children can learn more about their important civic duty. Featured talent is Macho Montero, Manager of Technical Services, Orange County Supervisor of Elections.
All videos will be accompanied by family activities and curricular resources that can be used in the classroom.
Designed to educate children ages 3-7 years, WUCF’s Meet The Helpers is a multi-platform initiative that introduces children to community helpers and the world of work through video content, family activities, classroom resources and more. Central Florida families can meet our new Helpers in person at WUCF’s Meet The Helpers Family Pop Up event on Saturday, September 7, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Hart Memorial Library in Kissimmee. The free event will feature activities designed for children of all ages and their families, offering an immersive experience into emergency preparedness, democracy, and the world of work.
