The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored WUCF TV, Central Florida’s PBS station, with a Suncoast Regional Emmy® nomination for its work on the Parks of the Past episode of WUCF’s Central Florida Roadtrip. The episode was honored in the Nostalgia Program category.
Hosted by WUCF Executive Director Dr. Phil Hoffman and produced by veteran television journalist Buddy Pittman, Central Florida Roadtrip explores the communities and history across the nine-county Central Florida area. In the Parks of the Past episode, viewers are taken on a journey through history with a look at some of the theme parks of Central Florida’s past including Silver Springs, Six Gun Territory, Cypress Gardens, Circus World, and Mystery Fun House to name a few.
“This is a really special nomination as WUCF is known as Central Florida’s Storytellers, and Central Florida Roadtrip does just that. It tells the stories of this great Central Florida community as well as diving into the history,” Hoffman said. “The Parks of the Past episode was a lot of fun because we were able to take the audience back to another time and reminisce about the many places our residents visited while growing up.”
