The National Education Telecommunications Association (NETA) has nominated WUCF for two national awards. The Public Media Awards, presented by NETA, honors work in the highest caliber across public media stations in the categories of community engagement, content, education, marketing and communications and overall excellence.
WUCF TV, Central Florida’s PBS station, is honored to be nominated in two categories.
The first in Content, Topical Feature for the WUCF special, From Chaos to Resiliency: Covid, Two Years Later. This program, a partnership with Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW), examined the immediate impact the pandemic had on children, seniors and the workforce and discussed its potential long-term impacts.
The second nomination comes in the Excellence in Content category for Meet the Helpers. This multiplatform project aims to help children, families and other public media stations better respond to crises in their communities, support viewer emergency preparedness and contribute to research on public media’s impact in emergency response. This content now airs on over 100 different public media stations nationwide.
“At the core of our mission as a public media organization is to positively impact our community through our content, through our engagement and through our actions,” said Jennifer Cook, WUCF executive director. “We’re honored that these two projects were selected by the judges for this award honor. It shows that the work we do matters and is making a difference.”
The 54th Public Media Award winners will be announced at a ceremony on Sunday, September 18, 2022
