ORLANDO, Oct. 15, 2024 — Central Florida's PBS and jazz music destination WUCF has been recognized as a "top workplace" in the community  by Orlando Sentinel Media Group. The series of recognitions for the public television and radio station reflect its commitment to celebrating the strengths and talents of individuals across our community.

WUCF received the Orlando Sentinel's  Top Workplaces 2024 Award  at a recent ceremony at the Caribe Royale Hotel & Convention Center—placing third overall among participating small companies—and a special award for communication for internal information-sharing and employee engagement.

"What makes WUCF so special are the people who put their passion and talent into their work every day," said Jennifer Cook, WUCF Executive Director. "We change lives. That's our mission statement, and it's carried out by our people and the impact we strive to make across Central Florida. It's an honor to work with the WUCF team and to be recognized for our culture and values."

WUCF was among 129 Central Florida companies that received the Top Workplaces honor, based on employee feedback gathered by Energage. The survey measured employees’ experiences and satisfaction within their companies, including themes such as respect and empowerment.

"Earning a 'Top Workplaces' award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees," said Eric Rubino, Energage's CEO. "That's something to be proud of. In today's market, leaders must ensure they're allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That's paramount. 'Top Workplaces' do this, and it pays dividends."

WUCF winning this award for the first time is especially meaningful as the radio station celebrates its  45th year on the air  and the PBS station airs its tenth season of its award-winning program Florida Road Trip,  exploring the history, culture and quirks that make our communities unique.

This fall, WUCF continues its commitment to community conversations with special election coverage and upcoming civic engagement initiatives.
