WUCF TV, Central Florida PBS, and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, are joining together and hosting a fun run at the University of Central Florida on Nov. 17 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved show.

Designed to bring out the fun in us all, the Sesame Street Fun Run with WUCF will feature both a 5K and shorter kids' run. Runners, walkers, joggers, and skippers are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Sesame Street character as they make their way around the UCF campus. All participants will receive a fun Sesame Street-themed cape and finisher medal.

“WUCF is honored Orlando was chosen as the kickoff location for this Sesame Street Fun Run series,” said Dr. Phil Hoffman, WUCF executive director. “Sesame Street’s impact on Central Florida is extensive, and we’re thrilled to help celebrate the show's 50th anniversary by bringing this engaging experience to the UCF campus.”

The run will finish with a post-event festival at UCF's Memory Mall, featuring meet-and-greets with costumed Sesame Street characters, photo opportunities, and activities for the whole family.

Proceeds from the registration fees for each race benefits WUCF and the Sesame Street Yellow Feather Fund.
