WUCF is thrilled to announce the release of the 2024 edition of the On My Way to K (OMWTK) guidebook, packed with engaging activities and resources designed to aid caregivers in preparing their children for kindergarten. This year's edition builds upon the success of previous versions, integrating beloved PBS KIDS content alongside exciting new additions to ensure an enriching experience for families.
The 48-page guidebook spans eight learning domains and aligns with state standards, offering caregivers a comprehensive tool to support early childhood development. Notable updates include downloadable resources, such as sight word cards and ten frames, as well as innovative ideas for creating sensory spaces tailored to children's needs.
In addition to educational content, the guidebook features material from WUCF's acclaimed Meet the Helpers initiative, which introduces children to community helpers while promoting emergency preparedness.
"We aim to empower caregivers with the resources like our On My Way To K Guidebook to nurture children's cognitive, social, and emotional growth," said Lauren Taylor, Education Services Manager at WUCF. "We're excited to unveil the latest edition, which reflects our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality early learning resources."
The guidebooks are available free of charge in both English and Spanish, accessible at select locations and on our website. Caregivers can also access additional printable resources and activities to complement the guidebook's content.
To support the launch of the updated guidebook, WUCF will host a series of pop-up experiences in collaboration with local libraries across Central Florida. Families are invited to participate in these events, where they can explore hands-on activities featured in the guidebook, receive their own copies of the OMWTK guidebook and PBS KIDS Summer Learning Pack, and engage with educational resources provided by WUCF.
