Introducing Our New Sensory Space at WUCF Education Events

Email share

As part of our Ready To Learn initiative, WUCF Education is thrilled to introduce a new Sensory Space at our education events! Starting in June and going forward, each community event will feature a dedicated area designed for children and families to reset and take a break amid all the excitement.

Sensory spaces are designed to help manage sensory overstimulation and provide a calming environment, which is supported by best practices in neurodiversity and sensory processing.

Our Sensory Space is equipped with items such as headphones, fidgets, wiggle seats, bouncy bands, and more, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment. Our Education Team partnered with local organizations like Pace Brantley Academy and Beacon College, as well as caregivers and homeschool cohorts, to tailor this experience to best serve neurodiverse children and their families.

Our goal is to make our education events welcoming and accessible for everyone in our community.

Families can help test our new Sensory Spaces as we pilot them at the following On My Way to K events:

  • Orange County: Winter Park Library on June 26th, 10 a.m.- 12 p.m.
  • Osceola County: Hart Memorial Library on June 21st, 10 a.m.- 12 p.m.
  • Volusia County: Ormond Beach Public Library on July 9th, 10 a.m.- 12 p.m.
