Our Team also reaches more than 13,000 people annually at in-person events and through resources.

WUCF employs 40 Central Floridians.

WUCF’s primary local services are public safety alerts, original content, educational community engagement, and career development. Public Safety Alerts: WUCF broadcasts emergency alerts and warnings on both TV and radio. These alerts include severe weather updates, AMBER alerts, and other critical information. WUCF’s Storm Center delivers essential weather information that keeps Central Floridians safe. Our Meet The Helpers initiative supports children’s understanding of careers, emergency preparedness and crisis response.

Original Content: WUCF’s local production team delivers unique local content featuring Florida stories, news, arts and more. Our Local Productions include Florida Road Trip, NewsNight, Melrose in the Mix, Jazz and the American Spirit, and more.

Educational Community Engagement: We reach beyond the screen to deliver in-person events and resources supporting learners of all ages. Our outreach includes: On My Way To K, Ready To Learn, and Be My Neighbor Day. We also deliver timely content and engagement experiences that meet the moment like our America250 initiative commemorating our country’s semiquincentennial.

Career Development: As a licensee of the University Of Central Florida, WUCF supports high impact experiences for students in a variety of degree fields through internships, work-study programs, and a practicum class in partnership with Nicholson School of Communication. Our studios welcome homeschool and community groups for tours, giving young children a glimpse into media careers.

As community-centered and responsive organizations, public media has embraced digital transformation, offering content via streaming platforms and online channels, such as YouTube, Amazon, Hulu and more all to meet audiences where they are.

Especially in communities that don’t have access to many TV stations, PBS offers rural and remote communities with access to trusted educational content, local events that connect our communities and emergency alerts and warnings.

Our Orlando-based employees live and serve our local 9-country region, a community we all care for so much. We know Central Florida because we are Central Florida.

Public media is supported, in-part, by non-commercial underwriting, which is governed by strict rules regarding messaging. WUCF’s underwriting spots provide fact-based information with no calls to action.

Our station’s underwriting process is held to a very high standard. Staff are regularly trained in non-commercial requirements, and messaging undergoes rigorous reviews to ensure compliance. Learn more about the value of underwriting and how corporate sponsorship helps change lives here.
